Frequently Asked Questions
At Taylor Medical Services, we understand that you may have questions about our services, scheduling, and more. We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions to provide you with quick and helpful answers. If you have additional questions, feel free to reach out to us.
- 01A medical examination for a legal claim, often called an Independent Medical Examination (IME), is undertaken by an independent medical expert to provide a medico-legal report. This report assesses the nature, extent, and cause of your injuries, forming crucial medical evidence to support your claim. The examination involves questioning about your accident and injuries, followed by a physical assessment and the creation of a report detailing your diagnosis, prognosis, and the injury's long-term impact.
- 02Establish Causation: To prove the injuries were directly caused by the other party's actions. Quantify Injury: To determine the severity, nature, and extent of the injuries sustained. Assess Prognosis: To provide an opinion on your recovery time and any potential long-term effects. Independent Opinion: To offer an unbiased assessment from a neutral expert.
- 03Questionnaire: You will be asked to complete a questionnaire providing further details. This can be emailed to: client.info.TMR@proton.me or brought along to the appointment. If you cannot complete the questionnaire please review the questions and consider your answers. Photographs: if you have photographs of any injuries or of the accident scene or damage you should similarly forward this to the email above.
- 04Interview: The doctor will ask about the accident and your symptoms. It’s important that you give the medical expert accurate information about your injuries. Medical History: You'll be asked about your previous health, including any pre-existing conditions or prior accidents. Your medical records will usually have been made available for the expert to review. If the medical records are delayed or not available prior to your interview your appointment date may be deferred until they are available. Physical Examination: The doctor will examine the injured area(s) of your body. Deferral: The expert may recommend further tests or refer you to other specialists.
- 05Content: The report will contain the doctor's expert opinion, including diagnosis, prognosis, treatment recommendations e.g physiotherapy, and the injury's impact on your life and ability to work. Review: You should receive the report for approval to ensure it accurately reflects your injuries before your solicitor uses it to support your claim. Why It is Important for Your Claim: The report serves as essential medical evidence to assist the legal claim and the court if necessary, which is vital for proving the legitimacy and severity of your injuries.
- 06This really depends on the type of injury you have and how serious it is. On occasion your solicitor may arrange more than one expert opinion, or further assessments/reports may be advised from the original report.
- 07The appointment system will send SMS and email reminders 4 days before your appointment. If you’re unable to attend, you should re-arrange for a more convenient date. If we agree an appointment for you but you don’t attend with sufficient advance notification then you will need to pay a cancellation fee.
